Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL)

WHAT IS HWPL?

HWPL of Northern California is committed to community development through volunteerism, advocacy, peaceful legislation, and cultural exchange.

We strive to facilitate comprehensive grassroots peacebuilding that involves diverse voices of the community: leaders in education, government and culture, as well as non-profit organizations and youth to create sustainable solutions and empower individuals and communities to play an integral part in global peacebuilding.

OUR VISION

HWPL of Northern California is committed to community development through volunteer outreach, women advocacy, and cultural and religious exchange through peace activities and youth engagement.

We strive to facilitate comprehensive grassroots peacebuilding that involves diverse voices of the community: leaders in education, governmental and religious sectors, as well as non-profit organizations and youth to create sustainable solutions and empower individuals and communities to be an integral part in global peacebuilding.

“Love can unite people in purpose, culture, and peace.
Ultimately it has the power to unite the whole world.”

our purpose

Heavenly Culture

Just as the heavens provide life through light, rain, and air abundantly to all and without discrimination, we strive to foster a culture where the values of love and respect are likewise shared abundantly and without discrimination. We believe that peace is not something reserved for the few but a culture all of us should enjoy. Through this model of peaceful coexistence, we aim to repay the blood lost in the countless wars before us through a new generation of peace and bring an end to conflict and war. We desire to be messengers of peace and to build a world of peace that we can leave as a lasting legacy for future generations. This can be accomplished when we unite together as one global community with a common aim for peace. In order for that to happen, we first need to spread this culture in our regions and neighborhoods.

World Peace

The cessation of world conflicts is being achieved through the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). This declaration containing 10 articles and 38 clauses is being adopted by governments and municipalities throughout the world who are showing their support for peace and their stand against war. The articles can be divided into three core concepts: prevention of conflict, settlement of conflict, and maintenance of peace. We are bringing this declaration to policymakers at the local level to encourage peace in communities across Northern California. It is everyone’s duty to reduce the existing causes of conflict and pursue harmonious coexistence. We also promote peace through local initiatives such as volunteerism, peace art, peace monuments, and an annual peace walk.

Restoration of Light

Our purpose is to restore the global community that has been suffering through wars and conflicts. HWPL is engaged in its peace movement as it transcends barriers of national boundaries, races, cultures, and religions, with the core values of respecting peace and life. Beginning here in Northern California, and following the global initiatives of HWPL, we work to create a culture of sharing life with the communities around us. One of the ways we do this is through facilitating peaceful discussion between local religious leaders in order to further mutual understanding and respect. Our religious discussion panels are also attended by open-minded community members and students who are curious to learn more about other religions. We are also working to introduce HWPL’s peace education curriculum to Northern California schools and after school programs for students and educators at the State and local levels.

our values

To bridge the gap between communities of different faith and religious leaders in promoting mutual understanding through structured discussion, with the goal of understanding the broader perspective of religion and the way it can play a role in the sustainable development of peace.

To promote outreach and service in the community by creating local volunteering opportunities that connect different organizations in order to learn through selfless acts of service.

To advocate for peace initiatives by promoting HWPL of Northern California campaigns such as peace walks, peaceful legislation, and education for the general public about HWPL of Northern California and the works of peace that have been completed throughout the world.

building communities

Since 2016, HWPL of Northern California has been working to engage leaders, legislators, educators, youth, and women’s groups to pursue avenues for peace at both the local level and national level.
